Get Started with Trezor – Your Guide to Setup
Your Trezor hardware wallet ensures that your private keys remain offline, giving you the highest level of security against online threats. Whether you're new to crypto or experienced, setting up your Trezor device will take just a few simple steps.
1. Unbox and Connect Your Trezor Device
When you open your Trezor Model One or Trezor Model T, you should find the following items in the box:
Trezor device (Model One or Model T)
USB cable (for Model One or Model T)
Recovery seed card to write down your backup phrase
Trezor sticker and other accessories
Connect Your Device:
Trezor Model One: Connect the device to your computer using the provided USB cable.
Trezor Model T: You can connect the device to your computer via USB, or for mobile users, use Bluetooth for a wireless connection.
Once connected, the Trezor device will power up automatically.
2. Install Trezor Suite on Your Computer or Mobile Device
Trezor Suite is the official application you’ll use to manage your Trezor device. It’s where you’ll configure your wallet, send and receive crypto, check your balances, and more.
Steps to Install Trezor Suite:
Go to trezor.io/start and download Trezor Suite for your Windows, Mac, or Linux device, or install the mobile version for iOS or Android.
Install the software and open Trezor Suite to begin the setup process.
Trezor Suite is easy to use, and it’s designed to help you manage your portfolio securely and with complete control.
3. Set Up Your Trezor Device
Once Trezor Suite is installed, follow these simple steps to set up your device:
Select your device model: Choose whether you’re using Trezor Model One or Trezor Model T in Trezor Suite.
Initialize your device: On the Trezor screen, select “Set up as new device” to start the process.
Choose your language: Use the buttons on the device to select your preferred language.
Create a PIN code: Choose a 6-8 digit PIN code that will protect your device. This is the code you'll need to enter every time you connect your Trezor device.
Confirm your PIN: Re-enter your PIN to confirm.
Your device is now protected by a PIN, and it’s ready to secure your cryptocurrency.
4. Back Up Your Recovery Seed
This is one of the most important steps of setting up your Trezor device. The recovery seed is a series of 12 or 24 words generated by your device. This is the only way to recover your funds if you lose access to your device.
Steps for Backing Up Your Recovery Seed:
Write down your recovery seed: The Trezor device will show a list of words. Write them down on the recovery seed card (provided in the box).
Store it securely: Store your recovery seed in a safe, offline location, such as a safe deposit box or fireproof safe. Do not store it digitally (e.g., in cloud storage, photos, or online).
Never share your recovery seed with anyone: Anyone with access to your recovery seed can control your crypto.
This recovery seed is critical—it’s your key to recovering your crypto in case of device loss or damage. Keep it secure and protected.
5. Install Cryptocurrency Apps on Your Trezor Device
Now that your device is set up, you can install apps for the cryptocurrencies you want to store and manage on your Trezor wallet.
Open Trezor Suite and navigate to the Manager tab.
Browse through the list of supported cryptocurrencies (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, etc.).
Install apps for the coins you want to store on your Trezor device by clicking the Install button next to each asset.
Each app allows you to securely store and manage that specific cryptocurrency on your Trezor wallet.
6. Start Managing Your Crypto
Once your Trezor wallet is set up and apps are installed, you can begin managing your cryptocurrency securely. Trezor Suite allows you to send, receive, and check your crypto balances in real-time.
To Receive Cryptocurrency:

A unique address will be generated. Verify it on your Trezor device and share it with the sender.
To Send Cryptocurrency:
Open Trezor Suite and go to the Send tab.

Verify the transaction details (address, amount) on your Trezor device before confirming.
Confirm the transaction on the device to sign and send it securely.
Note: Every transaction needs to be confirmed on your Trezor device, ensuring that only you can approve transactions.
